Update Information for July 31, 2010 (V 2.7)

A new blog by the wife of an ECD patient was added to the “Patient-to-Patient | Blogs and eGroups” page.  The blog is entitled, “A Journey Through the Maze of Rare Illness.”

New links were added to the list of published articles, accessible without charge on the internet, as found on the “Technical Papers | Published Papers” page.  They are:

Entries were made to the “Abstracts of Published Papers” as listed under the “Technical Papers” selection for recently published papers.  The additions are as follows:

  1. An article published in 2010 in Pediatr Blood Cancer.  The article is entitled, “Chemotherapy and interferon-alpha treatment of Erdheim-chester disease” and includes an abstract.
  2. An article published in 2010 in Eur Radiol.  The article is entitled, “Erdheim-Chester disease: CT findings of thoracic involvement” and includes an abstract.
  3. An article published in 2010 in Intern Med.  The article is entitled, “A case of osteoarthropathy due to Erdheim-Chester disease with overlapping Langerhans’ cell infiltration” and includes an abstract.
  4. An article published in 2010 in Neth J Med.  The article is entitled, “An X-ray that helps to solve the puzzle” and is without an abstract, although the full-text article is available free of charge.

An update was made to the ECD Case Locations page as found under the “Patient-to-Patient” menu selection.  This update shows the latest information regarding patients registered with the organization.

Techniques to Help with Swallowing Difficulties” was added to the “Resources” page.

New ECD-knowledgeable doctors were added to the “Physicians” page.  The following were added:

  1. A cardiologist from the USA
  2. An internist from the Netherlands

An update was made to the “Caregiver Info” page to fix a broken link to the AMA Caregiver Assessment Tool.

An update was made to the “Home” and “What is ECD?” pages to reflect that Erdheim-Chester Disease was first documented by both an Austrian pathologist, Jakob Erdheim, and an American pathologist, William Chester.

New chat summaries were added to the “Chat Room” page.
