ECD Global Alliance shows our stripes for Erdheim-Chester Disease awareness on #RareDiseaseDay, February 28. There are 300 million people with rare diseases. The lack of scientific knowledge and quality information on each rare disease often results in a delay in diagnosis.

Individuals with rare a rare disease often experience difficulties accessing treatment and care. This often results in heavy social and financial burdens on patients.

Owing to the broad diversity of disorders and relatively common symptoms which can hide underlying rare diseases, initial misdiagnosis is common. In addition, symptoms differ not only from disease to disease, but also from patient to patient suffering from the same disease.

Research needs to be international to ensure that experts, researchers and clinicians are connected

Every individual and company can play a role in improving access to care and funding research for those with rare diseases.

The ECD Global Alliance works to overcome these difficulties every day in support of those affected by Erdheim-Chester Disease and adult histiocytosis.
