Update Information for August 3, 2013 (V 2.41)

New entries were made to the “Abstracts of Published Papers” as listed under the “Technical Papers” selection for recently published papers. The additions are as follows:

  1. An article published in the J Am Acad Dermatol.  The article is entitled, “Diabetes insipidus, bone lesions, and new-onset red-brown papules in a 42-year-old man” and does not include an abstract.
  2. An article published in the Dig Liver Dis.  The article is entitled, “Portal hypertension and ascites secondary to Erdheim Chester Disease without intrinsic liver involvement on liver biopsy” and does not include an abstract.
  3. An article published in the West Indian Med J.  The article is entitled, “Erdheim-Chester disease in a child” and includes an abstract.

The “Grants” page was modified to state that the 2013 $50,000 ECD research grant will be awarded by August 15, 2013.  The organization will be awarding one or more grants in 2014.  If you have an interest in submitting a proposal for the 2014 grant, please email support@erdheim-chester.org.

The “Home” page was modified to:

  1. Better explain that when ECD patients register with the ECD Global Alliance, everyone benefits.  When patients join together their voice becomes stronger and it is easier to disseminate up-to-date information to everyone.  All ECD patients and those who love them are encouraged to join the organization.  Please register using our online registration form.   You can also email support@erdheim-chester.org
  2. Remove out-of-date announcements, namely a call for research grant proposals and a call for abstracts for the ECD Medical Symposium.
  3. Provide up-to-date information about donating to the organization.  Online donations can be made at www.razoo.com/story/ECD-Global-Alliance.
  4. Encourage everyone to register for the Medical Symposium and Patient/Family Gathering now to qualify for an early registration discount.

Chat summaries were added to the “Chat Room” page.

The Case Locations as found on the “Patient-to-Patient” and “ECD Global Alliance” pages, was updated.

The “How Can I Help?” page was updated to provide informationa about the need for donations to continue supporting research and patients.  Your donation will make a BIG difference in our small organization.

The “Physicians” page was updated to correct the phone number for Dr. David Hyman, an oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
